Written by We are hearing reports that current Speaker of the AZ House, Andy Tobin, and State Senator Rick Murphy are each seriously considering getting into the race for Congress in the new Arizona 4th District, aka River District.
The race was shaping up to be Sheriff Paul Babeu’s to lose until recent news of his personal life was revealed in an expose in the Phoenix New Times. Babeu is continuing with his campaign while current AZ-01 Rep. Paul Gosar and current District 3 State Senator Ron Gould join him on the campaign trail. If both Murphy and Tobin enter the race, the contest will become very fluid because of the small percentage needed to win a 5 way primary.
The new AZ-04 is a strong Republican district and it is widely expected that the winner of the primary will be going to Congress in January, 2013.

I think the Rick Murphy being talked about lives in Mohave County and owns radio stations. He ran against Trent Franks several years ago and may have actually run twice already? Different guy from State Senator Rich Murphy, who is actually a conservative.
