In a little-noticed move, perhaps because it was done late on a Friday afternoon on purpose, the McCain for Senate campaign announced that it was moving Shiree Verdone, its campaign manager, and Mike Hellon, its deputy campaign manager, to the Arizona Republican Victory Committee. It said that the two were not being fired from the campaign, just reassigned. This move has been largely ignored on the blogs and in the news. Yet questions remain. When did the McCain campaign get the authority to staff the Arizona Republican Victory Committee? Will the new committee staffers be employed through the end of the general election and, if so, what happens if J.D. Hayworth upsets McCain and wins the primary? Does he then have to rely on McCain’s former campaign managers to run the Victory program for his campaign?
Plus, didn’t the AZGOP Executive Committee already shoot down an attempt by the McCain campaign to take over the Victory program?
Many questions remain, include whose genius idea it was to take the managers from a campaign that has seen its lead shrink from 22 points to 7 points in spite of spending millions of dollars on ads like this, and put them in charge of the statewide campaign effort?

JD will not win the primary, that question is almost a joke. There are far too many informed voters who know JD’s past and know what he has done to damage our state. JD has such a poor history of corrupt behavior and unethical job practices, AZ will not be fooled again. As for the McCain staffers, this is politics people, this type of mix up happens frequently.
I’m sorry, I didn’t see where you disagreed with JD on an issue, all I saw was a personal attack. Interesting your reaction. Arizona’s last line of defense apparently doesn’t want the debate on the issues? Just personal attacks? That’s the perception that people have of the wing of the party who backs him.
Sheryl I have to agree with you we pay attention here in Arizona. We’ve seen far to many corrupt polticians bankers and buisness owners pollute our state. Take a stand Arizona Vote McCain..
Cabeza are you kidding me JD never speaks on issues all he ever does is direspect the other person being interviewed and try and point out wholes in what they have done in the past. He never offers anything except these giant promises that are insane. All JD does is mud sling.
Ha! that is hysterical someone saying the other guy just uses personal attacks. JD has nothing to offer but pointing our whats wrong with everyone else.
Way to go McCain helping out for the greater good of the party. I like the big picture thinking.
I would just like to thank Phil Gordon for having the courage to call JD our for who he really is. VOTE McCain.
Saraw, OK, so two wrongs make a right, thanks for explaining that.
Man, the McCainites come outta the woodwork. And say nothing at all.
And all the posts are within 2.5 hours of each other, on a Sunday night. Hmmm. But I am sure it is nothing more than a number of well-informed voters all commenting on this post. Yeah… right.
While we are happy to hear from lots of our readers, one reader posing as lots of people to create the mirage of a conversation and agreement really does not serve anyone well.
So Rolando, Roylala9, TheOther, SaraW, and Scott, please just pick a name and stick with it. And if you can’t get anyone to agree with you, please wait longer than 10 minutes before coming back and agreeing with yourself. If your comment has merit, someone is bound to agree with you.
Thank you.
Idiotic McCainites…. I mean McCainite (singular) got caught forging a bunch of names in support of Globalist Puppet boy MCCain. Classic!
