Rep. Andy Tobin Endorses John McCain

Written by Rural Watch on Mar 18th, 2010.

State Representative Andy Tobin

Representative Andy Tobin was among a disturbing list of current and former state legislators endorsing John McCain for reelection issued today. Some of the names on that list were a bit of a shock, others not so surprising, like Rep. Bill Konopnicki.

Tobin comes as a bit of a surprise due to his persistent hints that he may get into the way-too-crowded CD-1 race. Rural AZ’s district is not friendly ground to McCain. This country is where the “Grass Roots” run the deepest. Calling them religion belivin’, gun clingin’ rednecks is a complement.

Either Tobin has resigned his ambitions for CD-1, or he is naive enough to think that this will help him. Either way, this was not a good move, unless you hope to enlist the support of the McCain Machine…. which still won’t help you!

Below is the list on legislators endorsing McCain, as published earlier by the MAC Camp:

State Senate President Pro Tempore Barbara Leff (R-Paradise Valley)

Knowing Johnny wouldn’t let an endorsement go once obtained (by whatever means), I want to know how many of these individuals – other than Tobin – signed on to McCain during the 08 elections and how many signed on before JD entered the race for the Senate?

Now these folks are stuck and might as well take advantage of whatever McCain has promised them as a payoff. Lets not forget the Keating Five and Johnny’s ties to Arizona’s organized crime past.

  2. Colista says:

Konopnicki is touting himself as a fiscal conservative! He’s promising to solve the state’s financial crisis that he helped to create in the first place!

  3. Cabeza de Muerto says:

My guess is that he got these endorsements when it was a McCain-Simcox race. JD might have waited too long to jump in.

  4. DSW says:

The Most Conservative legislators endorsed JD Hayworth. In this comparison of endorsements, it’s really about quality and not quantity.

  5. Del says:

When I see alot of faults in both candidates, I always goes with the lesser of two evils! In this case it is John McCain, I really don’t see JD as a creditable and viable candidate. I would much rather sit down with John McCain and ask him why he voted on some issues the way he did and convince him of the error of his ways and get him back on the “Right” path!

  6. Brian says:

HAHAHAHA! Convince McCain of the “error of his ways”!!!! Wow! And you say you don’t see JD as a viable candidate?!?!?!?! That’s some funny stuff! Thanks for the laugh Del!

  7. Harris Shirley says:

Del … forgive Brian … but those of us who know the JMac know the folly of what you are proposing. When it comes to the lessor of two evils – remember, now that Health Care has been rammed down your throats – Obama is turning his attention to Immigration – and who does he need in the Senate to reform immigration? It certainly isn’t JD or Simcox -

  8. Harris Shirley says:

Has anyone yet heard a condemnation of tonight’s vote in the House by McCain ??
