Konopnicki Comes out of the Closet

Written by Rural Watch on Feb 7th, 2010.

RINO -at-large (Republican In Name Only), Bill Konopnicki, has officially come out of the closet. He has for some time worked “in the basement” with the Democratic Minority to overrule the conservative Republican leadership. Janet Napolitano was all too happy to sign the spend us into oblivion budget.

Our current imploding state government, wasteful government programs, and spending 17% more than predicted revenues is all thanks to Representative Konopnicki. Janet gets way too much of the blame. Konopnicki was one of key RINO’s to pass Napolitano’s massive spending budgets.

What’s more was the irredeemable act of betraying his fellow rural legislator Jake Flake. While Jake was Speaker of House in 2004, Konopnicki teamed up with Democrat Jack Brown and roled Jake’s conservative budget for Napolitano’s bugdet, which spent millions more.

It is well known in the rural conservative circles that Jake Flake did not want Konopnicki to have the LD5 senate seat.

The secret is out now. Konopnicki continually claims that his big government-big spend votes, votes that keep rural communities on the federal and state welfare roles, instead of working for their self-sufficiency, that these votes are for rural Arizona.

In the following video of an interview of Konopnicki on PBS’s Horizon, Konopnicki teams up with Maricopa Democrat Chad Campbell (Oops! He’s working with Metro-Legislators?!) revealing in sufficient detail how he is proposing another massive tax and spend budget despite Republican leadership’s budget to reduce the size of government and state spending.

The Budget includes:

  • Tax on Food
  • Income tax increase
  • Healthcare tax: hospital bed tax, and provider tax
  • eliminate school tax credit, private and public school tax

The worst part is that it does not reduce the size of government, or reform or eliminate government programs.

Konopnicki has decided to run against rural Conservative Senator Sylvia Allen. Senator Allen defeated him by a land slide in a vote by the LD5 P.C.’s (that’s 5 counties). In an honest race Senator Allen has nothing to worry about. We’ll be here to reveal any dirty tricks that may be employed in this race.

Well you almost have it correct but as usual you have it only partially correct and twist the truth to make your far right point!

House Republican Leadership ASKED Konopnicki and other R’s to work with the D’s to get some votes and to see if there was any way to get 31 votes for a budget. You see, the far right Republicans always vote no except to BORROW more money and let our children and grandchildren pay for what the far right Republicans have borrowed with NO plan to repay. The current President thought of this idea first but it worked so well for him that the far right republicans in Arizona want to use this method in Arizona-borrow-borrow-with NO way to repay. Now this is a strong conservative principle.
Just so you know some of House Republican leadership met with the D’s as well, you see they needed the votes to make cuts and pay the bills.

Oh yes, the proposal they have come up with takes sales tax from 5% to 6% then in three years lowers it to 4%???? It also pays back the money already borrowed (over $2 Billion with NO plan to repay) and saves OVER $900 million in interest by paying off the current debt in 5 years not 20 years.

These sound like real RINO options.
    Great work Gila Courier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would Allen Rural Jones please name names? He says House Leadership asked Konopnicki to draft this alternative budget proposal and *some* of House Leadership met to cut deals. Name names or, just like Konopnicki’s usual tactics; its just whisper and innuendo with no substance.

You speak of the proposal (the infamous) *THEY* have come up with – so how come on the video Konopnicki has no co-sponsors?

I would suggest that Rural Watch learn the facts before writing such an ignorant article. And learning how to spell would probably be beneficial as well.

  4. Colista says:

aznative, would you be more specific as to what you are referring? Please share the facts if you have them. To simply make such a statement as you have is not a valid argument. You employ the logic of a fifth grader I’m afraid and therefore in this discussion your comment carries no value.

  5. DSW says:

I spoke with a representative of House Leadership today and the claim made by Allen Rural Jones is false.

I will be the first one to jump up and rail against any Republican who suggests that the way we get out of this financial mess is to dig deeper into debt.

CUT! CUT! CUT! Like your financial health depends on it because IT DOES!

  6. Colista says:

In business when expenses are more than revenues, you cut expenses or raise your prices. Since that is a free market, it the becomes up to the consumer to decide if you made the right decision.

In government, you have a captive market who can’t refuse to pay the higher prices because there are laws against not paying the taxes and fees the government charges you. You can lose your house if you don’t pay the higher property taxes and you get into a whole lot of trouble if you don’t register your car.

So for people like KONOPNICKI taxing a persons sick bed appears to be no big deal. Just another form of revenue enhancement to agencies who do not know how to contain their expenses.

Konopnicki is all too willing to gouge his voters then prevaricate when he tells them how hard he’s fighting for them. He must think we’re dummies, because he’s doing it again.

Go Home Bill and spend some time with your family. Go on a Mission and serve the church. But GO…
