LD 26 Republicans are fine thank you

Written by Ryan on Nov 12th, 2009.

The Rum blog is trying to stir the pot among LD 26 Republicans but from what we hear it is not going to work. Tedski wrote that current State Representative Vic Williams was thinking of challenging the current State Senator Al Melvin. A simple call to Rep. Williams confirmed our susspision that Tedski is just trying to drive a wedge between NW Side Republicans now that the Democratic message is failing both at a local and national level.

District 26 is on track to re-elect both Melvin and Williams and will very likely replace Democrat Nancy Young Wright with Republican Terri Proud. Last year, Young Wright managed to win against the other Republican challenger, Marilyn Zerull, by only 848 votes. This despite the fact Marilyn lost crucial time while Pima County tried to figure out if Zerull won the primary. Zerull also lost both her mother and husband during the campaign. The 2008 election was also a presidential year with a then popular Obama on the ticket. Fast forward to 2010 and the slim 848 votes between Nancy and a Republican challenger and you can see why Tedski wants to divide the GOP.

Williams is focused on working  in the House to find real solutions to the issues facing Arizona and finds Tedski’s story in very poor taste only days after Melvin announces that he is being treated for cancer. If the Democrats want to hold on to their last seat in 26 they will have to come up with a much better strategy than the one floated by Tedski.

I’m so dang tired of politician doublespeak I don’t know how I’m going to manage to stick my head outdoors during the 2010 election season.

I’ve heard Rep Williams talk about the run for the Senate seat. Fact is, I was left with the impression that he was going to do it….though I gotta admit that I never did hear him say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Politicians are harder to nail down that a pile of Jello.

Say what you will about that Tedski fella, but he is just repeating a LD26 rumor that Rep Williams himself seems to be perpetuating.

For several months we’ve heard nothing but good things about Rep Williams from Sen Melvin. And WIlliams seemed to be complimentary in return. They don’t strike me as two men about to run against each other. I smell an RRRRat here.

Hmmm. Nothing about Tea Party energy propelling Trent “Framer” Humphries to LD-26 victory in 2010?

    Framer would win, you know.

David Safier over at http://www.MyGayPhoenix.com has been trying to kick that Trent Humphries candidacy into gear as well. Not likely. Trent is good at what he is doing and the Republicans in LD26 are getting along just fine, thank you very much. And Pima Ladies are loving Ms. Terri Proud as well to recapture the seat that the Democrat holds. Dream on Mr. Safier and Mr. Tedski.

Gila Courier “published” a faked press release attributed to a leader of the Prop 200 campaign that libeled a city official and had to be pulled from the blog. Then they criticize Tedski for writing a piece that begins, “A question fresh from the rumor mill.”

    Ryan, you are a joke.

  6. [...] Vic Williams is gearing up for a primary challenge to State Senator Al Melvin down in LD26.  Gila Courier has already contacted Williams and he has dismissed the rumor as pure nonsense, but should the GOP [...]
