Goldwater Institute released their much anticipated annual report card. The 2009 Legislative Report Card scores AZ’s legislature as a whole, and per each member, on how their respective votes measured up in four areas affecting the expansion or limitation of liberty: Education, Constitutional Government, Regulation, and Tax and Budget.

The highest scoring in all of the AZ Legislature was, again, Senator Ron Gould or LD3 (Kingman, Bullhead City).
Most notable to rural conservatives was Senator Sylvia Allen’s A-. She rank the 5th most conservative in the AZ Senate. Senator Allen faces a difficult task in the Senate. She represents a population economically decimated by radical environmentalists, and the unconstitutional intrusion of the Federal Government (and at times State Government), forcing people and local governments to be more dependent on government programs and aid.
District 5′s two representatives brought up the tale on the report card. Republican Representative Bill Konopnicki was the lowest scoring Republican in the entire state legislature(again) with a proud D+. At 49% this year, he is down 3 points from last year’s 52%.
Democrat Jack Brown came in at 39%, same as last year’s score. Brown, the longest serving member of the legislature and the oldest, he is set to run for one last term in the House. Much speculation is floating about whether he will retire and appoint his successor (via the Apache County Board of Supervisors), or if he will complete this term leaving a second vacancy in the district.
Bill Konopnicki is constitutionally termed out of the House, and has no where to go but Independent, hoping to benefit from years of Democratic alliances. Good luck to all BK endorsed candidates!

Will you HAVE done it again-Only reporting part of the truth. Konopnicki has a perfect record of voting FOR RURAL AZ not SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS that only care about Maricopa County. Senator Allen on the other hand, voted with ALL the Maricopa County Senators over 93% of the time. She even stated that her vote was bad for her district but it was the best she could do? Who elected her? Maricopa County or LD 5? She has forgotten.
If you want Maricopa County to take our water, close our hospitals, and increase taxes on rural counties and towns-you are correct! If you want to keep our way of life take a better look at the REAL reason for the votes.
BK would be an excellent choice of the current congress women OR do you think she has a better voting record? Keep beating him up and then ask him to take Ann out?
Get the FACTS-BK is the ONLY rural legislator to have a perfect voting record for rural AZ.
Go ahead and bash the good guys, promote the ones that DO NOT REPRESENT RURAL AZ! Allen is making a fool of herself and the distirct!
Pleeease !! Allen Rural Jones stuff a fork in it. BKs been as good for rural Arizona as the fast food he serves the working poor in his restaurants.
Your comment is only more fear mongering with no substance to it. If you keep repeating yourself over and over again as you have for several years now, it doesn’t change the truth no matter how loud you yell.
BK voted with every budget busting proposal of Janet Napolitano. In fact, he was her favorite “go to boy” when she needed a RINO to cross the isle.
You make charges Bucko … so Where’s the Beef?
True Grit
Your commements show you lack of understand of the issues and the truth of what is happening in the legislature. Your information is based on the Far Right’s claim to faim but NOT FACTS.
Back to you “BUSKO” “WHERE”S THE FACTS!” Oh you have none!
Allen Rural Jones… seems Konopnicki voted with Napolitano’s big spending budgets every time and ignored his own legislative leadership. And that’s why Arizona is in the financial mud today – because Konopnicki voted to spend even the state’s Rainy Day fund. If it wasn’t nailed down, he spent it.
Those are facts, its in the record. The Goldwater Institute is a “far right” organization? Americans for Prosperity (the Tea Party people who demand accountability in government) are a “far right” organization?
If those are “far right” what does that make Konopnicki? How about a little more than left of center – a big spending, big government, big waist sized self righteous religious social conservative.
