AZ Daily Star Changing For The Better?

Written by Thumper on Nov 6th, 2009.

First Scarpinato, now Ann Brown?

Rumor has it that tonight, on AZ Illustrated, Ann Brown will  announce her departure from Arizona Illustrated and the AZ Daily Star. Where she is headed next? Who knows…

You combine that with the addition of such political writers as Rhonda Bodfield and Andrea Kelly digging deeper into the stories than simply rehashing the Pima Democrat Party press releases… and what you get is a indication that maybe the Star does not want to fade into the night, like the Tucson Citizen did. Maybe, just maybe, Tucson is swinging back to center (and the almost 50/50 city council counts for each candidate attests to that).

I am curious to see who is going to take her place…

(and yes, I see the irony of a blog mocking a paper for fading into the obscurity of the blogoshpere…)

My bet is that Ann Brown will be on the government payroll working for Gabby Giffords next week. Ann has not one ounce of integrity.

  2. ScoobyDoobyDoo says:

You mean that she hasn’t been working for Gabby for the last several years in her job at the Star?

  3. Kenny Jacobs says:

My bet is “Thumper” will never reveal how Gila Courier published that bogus “press release” during the disasterous Prop 200 campaign. How about it “Thumper?” Who lied?

  4. Thumper says:

And you would win that bet Kenny… but keep your comments pertinent to the story at hand, or they will be deleted – just like we deleted and retracted the opinion piece.

  5. Thumper says:

Oh, and Andrea Kelly, Star Writer, confirmed the rumor via Twitter. Ann Brown is taking early retirement.

  6. Scotty F says:

The AZ Star is a biased, corrupt paper. My comments are censored and now I am not allowed to post at all. None of my comments were any different from others who are not censored and are still allowed to post. I have been blocked from posting simply because I am not a Democrat and don’t agree with the Star’s blatant bias. I contacted Debbie Kornmiller the AZ Stars supposed “Reader Advocate” and she absolutely refused to provide even a single item of tangible proof of why I am being blocked and censored.

I strongly encourage The Gila Courier and other media to do an investigation to see how many others have been censored and blocked by The AZ Star for no tangible reason.

  7. Stewie says:

According to Inside Tucson Business, the Star is going to start charging extra for the weekly TV listings.

    Fluuuuuuuuuushhhhhhhhh

  8. Trodel Post says:

Hey, Scotty F! I was sad to see the Tucson Citizen go down as I enjoyed your takes over there. Ann Brown is the worst. Anytime The Tucson Weekly doesn’t endorse liberal candidates that the ADS does endorse, you know that brown was getting payola from The Party of the the Donkey.
