Rep. Franks endoreses Hoffman in NY-23

Written by Gila on Oct 29th, 2009.

Representative Trent Franks has officially endorsed Doug Hoffman in the New York 23rd Congressional District special election. Rep. Franks released a full statement and here is one short excerpt:

“By nominating Dede Scozzafava, the county party chairs within the 23rd District have chosen a candidate who is radically out of the mainstream on issues that constitute the core of the Republican Party’s principles and, just as concerning, someone who does not reflect the values of the 23rd District’s constituents.”

Franks summed up:

“For all these reasons I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman — the only candidate in the race who accurately represents the values we continue to cherish so deeply as Republicans and who I believe will continue to honor and remain true to those ideals in the United States Congress.”

We just received late word that Rep. Jeff Flake has also endorsed and made a contribution to Doug Hoffman. Flake has released the following statement:

“With government spending out of control, taxpayers could use more fiscally responsible representatives in Congress. Taxpayers in New York’s 23rd District, and all across the country, will have a defender when Doug Hoffman is elected to Congress, and I’m glad to support his candidacy.”

Update: We have just received news that Rep. Shadegg has also endorsed Doug Hoffman.

We spoke with a person from Rep. John Shadegg’s office and she said Shadegg has not issued any statement on NY-23 at this point.

Does anyone in New York actually care who Trent Franks, John Shadegg, and Jeff Flake endorse? Especially now that Hoffman is leading in the polls. My pet cat might as well endorse Doug Hoffman too. This is more about Franks, Shadegg, Flake, and everyone else outside of New York making these endorsements attempting to burnish their conservative credentials back home than it is about actually helping Doug Hoffman get elected at this point.

  2. Gila says:

MKV, you must not know Trent Franks. He does not need to “burnish his conservative credentials.” He is clearly a solid conservative. I do not know if the other 2 did, but Flake backed up his words with a donation.

I actually think it sends a nice signal that the whole Republican delegation from a state decided to back someone like Hoffman. Good for them!

Did you cat send any money to Hoffman?

  3. Lupin says:

I wonder if this Doug Hoffman is in the Freshman 50, a PAC dedicated to bringing 50 fiscally conservative freshman congressmen to Washington so we can get some real change. http://the-freshmen-50.com

  4. Optimus says:

50 fiscally conservative freshman could really stand up to Pelosi and her radical Left agenda, good for Brian Miller that he took the initiative to start that PAC.

  5. Andrew says:

Trent Franks is a rock solid conservative who stands by principled people who will fight for Freedom and Liberty in defense of the individual and for the Constitution.

That is why he endorsed the conservative in CD-8, Jesse Kelly.
