Representative Trent Franks is a lot of things; husband, father, believer in Christ, Congressman, defender of the unborn, but he is not a Birther. And Dan Nowicki of the Arizona Republic should check his facts enough to know that. Nowicki wrote an article in today’s Republic about Franks’ comment regarding President Obama’s policy of funding abortions.
The first half of Nowicki’s article is correct but Dan swings wide in the second half of the story. Nowicki writes Franks was “the subject of national scrutiny after a Mohave County newspaper reported that he told a town-hall crowd that he intended to file a lawsuit related to Obama’s birth certificate.” That sentence is VERY misleading. First, the story in the Mohave paper was incorrect. Nowicki should have mentioned the follow on piece written in the Mohave paper, you can read it at this link.
The second error in Dan’s sentence above is that Franks earned “national scrutiny.” In reality Franks became the target of liberal blogs chasing an incorrect story. That is all.
Nowicki follows up his misleading statement about Franks with a definition of the Birthers. This is Dan’s little technique of falsely linking Franks once again to a group to which Franks does not belong.
Overall, Nowicki’s story is sloppy at best. The state’s largest paper should aim for a higher standard.

I call it desperation when you can falsify a story with a straight face. Which means you have no integrity. Rep. Trent Franks has a record that we can look at that explains what he has done. I say that he should continue doing what he is doing.
